Makenna and Caleb: A White-Out Wedding in Hawaii

Makenna and Caleb Tipps’s white-out wedding was nothing short of one-of-a-kind. Held at the glamorous Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii, the Tipps’s ceremony was surrounded by a vibrant, tropical atmosphere that exquisitely contrasted their unique, all-white dress code. This couple’s gorgeous wedding and each swoon-worthy detail has left our Martin Thornburg team breathless, and we’re excited to share their love story.

Makenna and Caleb met while attending Central Washington University, where a chance meeting through mutual friends resulted in an instant connection. Throughout the next year, the two got to know one another as just friends. Then, Makenna had a dream (yes, a dream!) about Caleb confessing his love for her, which she shared with a close friend, who repeated it to Caleb. This changed their lives forever, as Caleb quickly turned Makenna’s dream into reality, and the two were dating the very next day. 

“The journey to the wedding was a huge growing point for us,” Makenna shares, detailing a number of bumps they encountered along the road to the altar. Having gotten engaged in 2020, the infamous COVID-19 wedding planning process involved plenty of delays, difficulties in securing services, and challenges surrounding unvaccinated invitees and bridal party members. Nonetheless, Makenna shares about how everything turned out exactly how she imagined it. 

“I know everyone says this, but slow down. Enjoy your people, enjoy each other, and enjoy the day,” Makenna advises. From Makenna and Caleb’s first dance song, ‘Simply The Best’ by Tina Turner, to their ode to the tradition of saving their first look for the moment she walked down the aisle, each detail of the Tipps’s wedding was simply a dream.
